Explanation and Rules:

  1. The tagging system is divided by "subject", "medium" and "aspect" tags. Subject tags are involve on what's the site is about, while medium tags are on which form the page conveys a message. In other words, subject ask what, while the medium asks how. This implies that it's perfectly plausible to have the same name for both a subject and a medium tag (ex: "video" as subject would address the video format while not necessarily being one, while "video" as a medium, on which the link would convey a video itself). "Aspect" tags, on contrast, are a specific perception to certain topics that are left ambiguous on the subject categories, but that aren't a "format" like a "medium" tag would suggest (for instance, an article covering the history of technology would have "technology" as a primary subject tag, but "history" as an aspect. Ethics in hacking would have "computing" and "hacking" as subject tags, but "ethics" as an aspect)
  2. Subject can have up to three categorical layers. Meaning the presence of category (primary), subcategory (secondary) and subsubcategory (tertiary). Medium tags are a single layer, and so are aspects.
  3. Subject tags may follow a maximum of a 3-3-3 tag path. That is, three primary, three secondary and three tertiary tags. In practice, this suggests a maximum amount of 39 tags, humongous but in practice the overwhelming majority of sites don't follow such complexity.
  4. Maximum of three medium and aspect tags, separatedly.
